Barathi Thamizh Kalvi’s mission is to provide an outstanding education in Tamil that inspires a love of learning for the ancient South Indian language, celebrates the creativity and achievements of our children, and nurtures lives rooted in Tamil culture.

  • Encouraging the kids to participate in classroom activities, cultural events that incorporates the value, language, literature and history that have been passed down from preceding generations
  • BTK Graduates will possess the basic knowledge and skills that will assure their proficiency in reading, writing and speaking Tamil.

Welcome to Barathi Thamizh Kalvi

The main focus of our school is children’s Tamil learning - to Read, to Write and to Converse. In addition to teaching Tamil, we also promote Tamil culture by engaging kids in cultural activities such as Dance, Drama, Music and any art form based on the Tamil Heritage.

Registered as a Non-Profit school in California and Federal Tax Exempt under 501(c)(3), affiliated to California Tamil Academy (CTA), a Non-Profit Organization based on Cupertino. CTA has more than 1500 students studying in various schools spread over the bay area.

Safety First

Classes held in Arthur F. Corey Elementary (Buena Park School District), providing a safe environment.

Regular Classes

Once a week classes on Sun. from 3:30 to 5:00 pm, approx. 30-32 classes per year.

HSCP

4 year course for Middle and High school students. ABC unified district students will get the seal of bi-literacy when they complete 4 years. AUHSD Anaheim Union High School District students are eligible to get up to 10 elective credits per year. Classes are 4.5 Hrs per week for 32 weeks.

Sufficient Classrooms

Students are grouped based on Prior Knowledge, Age and Skill. Maximum of 10 students in a classroom with a small Student/Teacher ratio.

Age Limit

Accepting kids from ages 4 to 18 years.

Functions and Events

We promote cultural and academic performances. We conduct Pongal and Annual Day functions to promote Tamil and Tamil culture.

Class time: 4:00pm to 5:30pm on Friday and 3:00pm - 6:00pm On Sunday

9 Years of Experience

Depending on age and progress, the next level will be decided by the class teacher. Student can take an evaluation test to decide the level on the first day of school.

During parent teacher meetings, teacher will discuss with the parents on the progress.
